About Us

 

 Since its inception in 1997, the Family Resource Center has created programs in response to the needs of the community.  These programs are designed to create a measurable difference in the lives of children, youth and families throughout Coos County.

Incorporated  in Gorham NH April 1997

Service area:

Coos County, New Hampshire.   Coos has a total population of 33,111 and a population density of 19 people/square mile, which makes it the largest, poorest, most rural and least populated county in New Hampshire.

Programs:

Afterschool programs for over 250 students in 5 schools in grades 1-8
Home visiting programs for pregnant women, infants, families at risk and children with health/behavioral concerns
Substance abuse prevention and suicide prevention workshops and training
Work skills development program for underemployed and unemployed workers
Financial information, tax preparation and family support programs for low wage earners

Budget:

1 million for FY 08
50% state funding, 30% private foundations and 20% individual donors and other sources

Endowment:

In 2005 the Board endorsed a campaign to raise an endowment for The Family Resource Center.
In December 2007 the endowment reached the $100,000.00 mark thanks to a challenge grant from a generous donor.

20 full time and 30 part time

Board:

Community Board of Directors meets the 4th Thursday of every month
